Ancestral connections
Have you ever wondered about your roots? Perhaps a family story or mystery? Perhaps there are wounds, patterns of behaviour and trauma which have been carried down through the generations.
I didn't fully appreciate how the wounds of our ancestors can ripple on through our lives and the lives of those around us, until I took quite an amazing journey of my own - along with my mum.
I would love to be part of your journey to connect with your ancestors. Below is my story, if you'd like to find out how I could help you learn yours, get on touch.
A Levene journey through lifetimes.........
My story began with a little boy, born Douglas Arthur Levene on 10 March 1917 in Doncaster. His mother, Janie Levene was a music hall artiste living in Leeds. At some point shortly after Douglas was born, Janie left him with a barge woman. The story was that it was to be for a short while and that his mother would return for him. Alas it came to pass that a little Jewish boy was raised in a Christian family, growing up to be a Salvation Army officer. He never knew his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins - and never knew that he had a half sister.
I am Janie Levene's great granddaughter, and over 100 years later, I met my Jewish bloodline - the first physical meeting of our line of the family in a over century. With only a birth certificate, a few photographs, and a little help from the universe, I was able to trace my family across the water to the USA.
My story now begins with who I know to be my great great grandparents, Jewish immigrants to England from Lithuania in the 1880's. I am just now beginning to learn about a whole new part of my ancestry. It has been, and continues to be, an emotional, educational, healing and exciting journey.
